High Speed Internet for Township Residents

Supervisor Benjamin met with Comcast and also discussed with Frontier, Milton Township’s resident’s concerns regarding lack of Internet services.

In his 1/25/2012, meeting with Comcast, Comcast was informed of the areas of the township that have complained for the lack of service. Kelly Sweeney, Milton Planning Commission Chair, relayed the township’s past growth and future planned growth areas. Paul Sniadecki, Milton Zoning Administrator, provided maps of Milton. Comcast is currently reviewing this information and will be getting back with the supervisor of possibilities of expanding services within Milton Township. If you want Comcast service and are unable to get it, please call Greg Gomolka at Comcast at 219-465-4156 and express your desire to have Comcast services.

In his phone conversation with Frontier Communications, their representative stated that they are expanding Internet services into our community. They encourage customers within Milton who have Frontier service to call 888-214-9031 and have them check the line for service availability. Supervisor Benjamin also has a call into the Government Affairs Coordinator of Frontier to see about future expansion.

If you cannot receive high speed Internet services at your home and you want it, please e-mail or call Supervisor Benjamin so he knows where you are at, and can work with the utilities in their expansion plans to include you.

US-12 RESURFACING PROJECT

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin construction on US-12 between M-60 and the west limits of Edwardsburg in 2012.  The purpose of the project is to rehabilitate the deteriorating pavement surface.  Additionally, the project will include shoulder widening, intersection safety improvements, guardrail improvements, signage updates, and some drainage improvements.  Construction of the approximately $7 million project is scheduled to start May 7, 2012 and be completed by October 2012.  The project will be started by closing a single lane and maintaining two-way traffic using flag control.  The closures will be during daytime working hours only and will not exceed one (1) mile in length.  Multiple work zones may be operating simultaneously to expedite the construction, but will be a minimum of three (3) miles apart.  Additional staging will be required at intersections.  Please contact Township Supervisor, Robert Benjamin, if you have any additional questions or concerns.
